整體目標

  • For students to develop an interest in exploring human behavior and social issues through an economic perspective
  • Enable students to understand the world in which they live through mastery of basic economic knowledge
  • To enhance students’ general intellectual capacity for lifelong learning, through developing their capacities in economic analysis, so that they can possess the skills necessary for reasoning about issues and making rational choices.
  • To help students to participate as informed and responsible citizens in the decision- making processes of a modern democratic society

高中

A.    Knowledge and understanding
Students will develop knowledge and understanding about:

  1. economic terminology and concepts, as well as elementary economic theories;
  2. basic economic problems faced by every individual and society, and alternative approaches to tackling these problems;
  3. the considerations and forces underlying the economic decisions that need to be taken by individuals, firms, institutions and governments;
  4. the interactions of different economic sectors; and
  5. the Hong Kong economy and its relationship with the economies of other parts of the nation and the world.

B.    Skills
Students will develop skills to:

  1. interpret economic information presented in verbal, numerical or graphical form;
  2. apply their economic knowledge to a variety of problems and issues in a range of economic contexts;
  3. analyse information through the use of economic concepts and theories;
  4. evaluate information, arguments, proposals and policies from different economic perspective and make informed judgements; and
  5. communicate economic ideas and informed judgements, in a clear, logical and appropriate form.

C.    Values and attitudes
Students will develop values and attitudes so that they may;

  1. participate as informed persons in the discussion of economic issues and decision-making; and
  2. become active and responsible citizens and contribute to the well-being of the local community, the nation and the world.
     

課程特色

1. Teachers in the department are open and receptive of new ideas.

2. There is support from the school authority and the public sector, such as The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), etc.

3. Fresh real world issues, including various economic issues contained in books and magazines, will be used to train students’ ability of applying economic theories for analysing current issues.
