Integrated Science (Junior Forms)

Mission

  1. To help students to develop an interest and enjoyment in Science and Nature.
  2. To help students to develop the ability to enquire and to solve problems.
  3. To teach students to acquire the basic scientific knowledge and concepts for living in and contributing to a scientific and technological world.
  4. To help students to be acquainted with the language of science and be equipped with the skills in communicating ideas in science-related contexts.

Curriculum Goals

Junior Forms

Knowledge and Understanding:

1.    acquire basic scientific knowledge and understand some phenomena, facts, concepts and basic principles in science
2.    recognise the connections and overarching coherence across different disciplines of science

Skills and Processes

3.    recognise how scientific claims are supported by data, methods and reasoning in science
4.    use apparatus and equipment properly for conducting practical work
5.    formulate hypotheses, make quantitative and qualitative measurements, control variables, assess and minimise uncertainty in measurements, make conclusions based on the results for supporting or refuting the hypothesis set

Values and Attitudes

6.    develop curiosity and interest in science and appreciate the wonder of the Nature
7.    show respect to life and the environment
8.    develop proper values and attitudes towards adopting healthy lifestyles

Curriculum Highlights

  1. Empowered Scientific Inquiry:
Students are actively encouraged to design experiments and conduct scientific investigations, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  2. Cross-Disciplinary STEAM Projects:
Engaging cross-disciplinary projects integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), promoting collaborative learning and creativity.
  3. Experiential Learning Opportunities:
Hands-on, experiential learning is a core focus, allowing students to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications through practical experiences.
  4. Participation in Scientific Competitions:
Students can participate in scientific competitions, improving their skills in applying knowledge to real-life challenges
